The University System of Georgia (USG) has instituted a new policy that will require all instructors-of-record to have a public curriculum vitae (as defined below) posted online by February 16, 2026 (see forwarded email from the Provost below for original announcement sent October 17, 2025).
The USG requires that this ‘public CV’ include:
- All academic degrees earned and the institutions where they were acquired
- Department directory information
- Statement of research and teaching interests
- Recent publications or other scholarly activities
As it turns out, the College of Sciences was already in the process of creating a new web platform to collect information for standardizing profiles across the College. We are now ready to begin collecting data from our academic faculty and others who are serving as instructors-of-record this spring (including any relevant staff, students or postdocs).
We will achieve compliance with the USG policy through two stages:
- Stage 1 (1/9/26–1/30/26): Data collection will occur January 9–30, 2026, where faculty and instructors will need to actively input their own information through the new COS Profiles system
- Stage 2 (1/31/26–2/16/26): Online profiles will be published on School websites January 31–February 16, 2026, by CoS ARCS in coordination with each school using these collected data.
As mentioned, COS was already in the process of creating this portal to collect information to assist with standardizing online faculty profiles, providing important contact information for facilities, information technology, and faculty affairs. The COS Profiles portal asks for more information than is required by the USG policy. Aside from the four pieces of information required by USG for instructors-of-record (listed above), the other items are optional, but I encourage you to provide them as they will be helpful to visitors to your profile page. Note that there is an option to include a link to a group/individual website. Many faculty make use of GT-supported Sites@GT / sites.gatech.edu to publish sites that contain far more information than will appear in the standard, required profile.
By Friday, January 30, 2026, please provide information for your online profile.
